Avenue are first to sign up to DSS web portal

We've taken an innovative step to fill empty properties by becoming the first social landlord to sign up for a new housing website. The site helps people on housing benefits move home. Avenue properties will be made available on the Dssmove site later this month.

Erica Kacikova, business development manager from Avenue, said: "Avenue is really excited to use Dssmove. It specifically caters for people on welfare benefits and searching for suitable accommodation."

Avenue has taken the decision to list its properties in advance of the rush of tenant moves expected when the full impact of the welfare reforms hit.

Ms Kacikova added: "Dssmove has come into being at an opportune time as the benefit system is changing. It provides an easy-to-use matching service for both the landlord and tenant so we jumped at the opportunity to be the first housing association to take up the service."
